Never too young, Never too old.

We, as humans, are meant to keep learning, keep growing intellectually and keep finding new ways to be happy. It isn’t uncommon to hear people say “Oh please, I am too old to dress up like you”, “You are too young to travel alone yet” “I am too old to play that sport now” “You are too young to understand these things”. Think again. Really? Is there a defined age or time or a moment when we can start or stop doing things?

Each day you learn to live better, cope with your problems better, understand a little more – understand others and understand yourself a little more. You have always wanted to learn that musical instrument, that dance form, that software, to bake cakes, to design footwear, business planning course, meditation, horse riding, or martial art. It is never too late or too early to acquire a new skill. The world is enormous, you will always be a novice, enjoy it. So enroll now, join that group now, give yourself a little extra push, NOW. Don’t worry if people counsel at variance. They always will. You alone can choose for yourself. Personal gratification is far more important than public reception.

Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can, there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did. – Sarah Caldwell

Time is never going to be enough, but YOU ARE!

Love yourself for what you are, look at how far you’ve come. Some of us are proud of ourselves, our capabilities and accomplishments. Congratulations! You’ve done great! If you have done THIS so well, you could also perhaps do THAT thing wonderfully too. Try it!

Nonetheless, some of us think we always fall short, somewhere. If we could have done just a little more, a little better, a little different. Well, no problem, try it again, perhaps try something else. Not for any project or competition or any person, but for yourself! We have all been blessed with some good things. Find out what they are.

age

Age is merely a number. That little magician did not need to wait for 10 more years to learn more tricks. That oldest ballet dancer does not need to stop dancing the day she turns 50. That youngest entrepreneur became famous because he was the youngest and didn’t wait to reach that ‘normal’ age to set up his business.

You can always dream, set a new goal, acquire a new skill and gain more knowledge regardless of your age. What others do around you, and WHEN others do, is none of your business. Focus on what you can do. Put on your roller skates and just glide, you might fall, get up again, glide again, in a new way, in a different direction, but keep going. If you’re old, you’ve got experience. If you’re young, you have a fresh perspective. Both have their own advantage.

If beauty creams can defy age, I think human minds could do a much better job.

Love, wisdom, proficiency, beauty, well-being, dexterity, joy, fun, content, enrichment, affection, admiration and gratitude are way too powerful to be hindered by age. Go explore, try new things, make new friends, find what gives you peace, joy or adrenaline. Every birthday is not a reminder of how many years you’ve lost, but of how many experiences you have had. You can be old at 30 or you could still be young at 60. You’re never too young, never too old. The choice is yours, life is yours, make it worthwhile.

  1. This is right on! The more we grow, the more strength we have. Age is definitely a number, but it doesn’t define who we are.

Love this. Especially the part about ‘loving yourself’. In life we get distracted by so many goals and plans that we rarely take the time to appreciate all the things we have achieved already.

I love this! Like anyone else, I have had anxiety over trying something new at my age, particularly activities like dance or playing an instrument which seemingly must be learned from childhood in order for one to be good at them. I love your sentiment that one will always be a novice in this world, so you might as well go out and give it a shot anyway, no matter your age!

I have a love/hate relationship with aging. I’m not the posterchild for aging gracefully, it’s a slow grow that’s for sure

It is only natural to have that love/hate relationship. Aging in itself is graceful, with all the experiences that we collect. Slow or not, but it is a growth for sure. Wish you all the best in all you do!

I love this post!! There’s a saying a man said to me years ago, “you only stop learning or living when you’re dead. As long as you have breath and desire to do something, then do it”. This quote stuck with me because he was right. We are only limited by ourselves.

Totally agree with this. I used to think I was too old for things (I’m almost 30) but now I realise that there is no “right time” and there is no limit on age on what you can do! Just take the story of the Colonel from KFC as an example of what can be achieved no matter your age!
